I'm Sorry You Feel That Way by Diana Joseph

There's nothing I can say about this book that hasn't already been said better by Very Important People, but I will add my endorsement. The essays in this book are funny, neurotic, and emotionally moving.

Plus, it includes a dog having "relations" with a vocal stuffed animal. You can't lose.

It won't be on store shelves until March 2009, but I'll remind you of it then, too.

I'm sorry but... Nothing tops the swiss cheese man.

Ah. My cheese golems. One day I'll have to finish that story. It's shameful that in--what, seventeen years?--we never even got a full draft done.

Enlighten us on the swiss cheese man

In a sword-and-sorcery fantasy story my brother and I were co-writing a long time ago, I was messing with every fantasy convention I could. I wanted golems, but they couldn't just be translated from the Hebrew-lore model, so I decided they'd be made of cheese.

It never got any further than that, so I don't know what it would have done to the story. But it's amusing to me still. I might have to try it some day.
